Why I Still Love This After 10 Years

I'm not one to blog (really, ever) but I know you'd like to get to know me a bit before considering me as your photographer. It's a big day, and you need to trust your decision.

First, thank you for reading and visiting my site. Second, I love my job. I joke with my wife all the time that when I retire, I plan to pick up photography — meaning, I genuinely enjoy what I do, and I think it shows in my work.

This year was another dozen-wedding season for me. That's about my number — the sweet spot where I can get edits done quickly while still obsessing over every photo to make sure you and I both love the entire gallery. It's not uncommon for me to load my cards after a wedding to over 4,000 images. I typically cull that down to 450–500 before starting the editing and coloring process. Any more weddings than that in a season and I'd start to burn out, so this is where I stay sharp. The rest of my year goes to other genres — action sports, brand marketing, architecture and design.

All that said, I loved every single wedding I shot this year. I grew as a photographer week to week, studying my exposures through each file as I edited, making notes, and improving the following weekend. I've been shooting weddings for over 10 years, and it's still wild to me that I keep finding areas to improve or new flare to add. I keep a finger on the pulse of what's trending, but I always keep it within my own style. It genuinely feels like an art to me — nothing makes me happier than finishing an image I can't wait to share with my couples.

This year was filled with rainbows, smiles, and some seriously mad dancing. Thank you to everyone who invited me to be part of their momentous day.
